Mr. González has a bachelor’s degree in Law from Universidad de Monterrey where he also obtained another bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts in 2004 and 2005 respectively. He was awarded the Cum Laude distinction in both degrees. He later obtained a Masters Degree in International Commercial Law at Université de Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in the year 2007. Afterwards, he obtained another Master in Laws (LLM) at Georgetown University Law Center where he graduated with honors. In 2008 he approved the New York Bar Exam, and is admitted to practice in the State of New York since 2009.
He started his professional practice at Santos-Elizondo, S.C. where he became a partner in 2017. His practice has focused in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, wealth management and estate planning, energy law as well as some practice in commercial litigation.
In the area of M&A, he has advised large and medium firms both as a seller and purchaser, and both in the sale of shares as well as the sale of assets. He has participated in several transactions that have required approval from the Federal Antitrust Commission in Mexico, the National Banking and Securities Commission as well as the Commission of Insurance and Bonds. In the purchase and sale of companies, Mr. González has given legal counsel to several public companies that quote their stock in the Mexican Stock Exchange. He has helped foreign companies set up their business in Mexico with all of their implications to start their business in the country, including the preparation and execution of articles of incorporation and the drafting of complex shareholders agreements, striving to always provide sound advice to the client’s specific needs.
He has acted as counsel in several types of transactions such as:
- The purchase and sale of different sized companies and with varying structures of acquisition.
- Planning and design of special corporate vehicles for estate planification.
- Incorporation of Trusts or Fideicomisos of several types.
- Preparation or credit agreements with different types of guarantees.
- Negotiated several Power Purchase Agreements.
- Advise to companies in the participation of local, state and federal public biddings.
- Litigation in commercial, criminal and family matters.
